Heading home from work after a tiring long day, I saw a family distressed and parked up on the side of the motorway. I pulled over and checked up on them and realised they had a flat tyre. After nearly ten minutes of sorting the spacesaver out, I jumped in the car ready to go, only then to be told by the mother that their battery was flat from their hazard lights. I turned the car around, hooked up my jumper leads and after five minutes of charging, their van started up and we were both good to go.I was ready to head home, the mother of the family was going to drop the kids off then head back to the hospital to be with a loved one.
I was told that they had waited for forty minutes and I was the only person who chose to stop and see if they were okay. On reflection I thought, have our own lives become too important and busy to help others? Secondly us Westies have to stick together! They were from the West and that was a proud moment for me to be able to help a fellow Westie. Thirdly, always keep jumper leads in your car, you never know when they’ll come in handy!
